Handgun Safety Course

This course will serve as an introduction for new shooters and as a refresher for those experienced with handguns. By the end of the course, students will have a working knowledge of firearms safety, operation of the handgun including disassembly and maintenance, fundamentals of shooting, and drills to continue practicing and improving. 

Equipment for the student to bring:

• Serviceable handgun with magazines 
• Hearing protection
• Eye protection 
• Hat with brim (ballcap) 
• 150 rounds of ammunition

Other information:

• Must wear long pants
• Closed-toed shoes are required
• no low-cut tops are allowed
• bug spray, sunscreen, water, & snacks are recommended. 

Participants must sign a waiver to attend, and those under 18 years of age must have a parent or guardian sign. 

Class is limited to 10 participants. $129.00

Iowa Region SCCA will be hosting a rallycross event on August 18th at the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa. We'll be using the 1/2 mile dirt track oval and the infield, which allows for a great course!

Please register for this event at this link to reserve your spot. Race cost is $60 if you are not a SCCA member or $45 if you are. Payment is only taken via credit card so YOU MUST REGISTER AT THE LINK ABOVE! We are intending to have the first racer on track by 10am, so please arrive early (8 AM) to ensure time to register, have your car tech inspected and walk the course. If you are late for registration (after 9:15), you will be charged an additional $10 to race.

IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE:

+Anyone under 18 must have a waiver signed by both parents/guardians to race or ride along. The signing must be witnessed by a SCCA member or a notary. Please contact us to get a copy of this waiver.

Enjoy a glass of Tassel Ridge wine ($6–$12) with your favorites from our Wine and Pasta Night Menu. Begin with Caesar Side Salad with Romaine, Croutons, Shaved Parmesan, and Caesar Dressing ($5); then choose Pasta Bolognese with Meat Sauce and Penne ($11); Pasta Puttanesca with Spicy Tomato Sauce, Green and Black Olives, Capers, and Penne ($11); Tri-Color Tortellini with Alfredo Sauce ($11); or a Pasta Trio with Pasta Bolognese, Pasta, Puttanesca, and Tri-Color Tortellini ($12). End your meal on a sweet note with Butterscotch Budino ($7).

The Tasting Bar will NOT be open, but Seated Tastings, also by Reservation only, will be available to enjoy before your meal. Our Seated Tastings include your choice of one of eight Tasting Flights. Flights include five wines, freshly baked bread, Frisian Farms Young Gouda, and, depending on Flight, Tassel Ridge® Dipping Oil or Warm Roasted Salted Cashew Nuts. Price $15–$25 per flight.
