Join me for gentle morning restorative stretching sessions in the City Square Park throughout June and July. These 30-minute sessions are designed to help improve mobility, reduce tension, calm the nervous system, and support overall wellness through slow, supportive stretching and mindful movement. This is a beginner-friendly class focused on helping you feel more open, grounded, and refreshed — not exhausted.
Restorative stretching uses gentle, supported positions held for longer periods of time to encourage the body to release tension and recover from daily stress and stiffness.
Please bring:
• Yoga mat
• Towel for support/positioning
• Water
• Bolsters and 2 yoga blocks if you have them

The Oskaloosa City Band Summer Concert Series has been performing Summer concerts every year sine 1864. The band performs a variety of music each night to please all ages.
Join the Oskaloosa City Band in the Norman Rockwell setting of the bandstand in the downtown city park! Local businesses provide free popcorn, lemonade, iced tea, bottled water and more! Fundraising organizations sell pie by the slice, while ice cream, shaved ice and other treats are available for purchase as well. Park benches are available but you might want to bring your favorite lawn chair or a blanket to relax under the shade trees while listening to the soothing sounds of the City Band. We hope to see you there!!

Join the Oskaloosa City Band in the Norman Rockwell setting of the bandstand in the downtown city park! Local businesses provide free popcorn, lemonade, iced tea, bottled water and more! Fundraising organizations sell pie by the slice, while ice cream, shaved ice and other treats are available for purchase as well. Park benches are available but you might want to bring your favorite lawn chair or a blanket to relax under the shade trees while listening to the soothing sounds of the City Band. The program will begin at 9 a.m. by recognizing first responders, hearing from local speakers, and will include music from the Oskaloosa High School band and a bagpipe player.

ServSafe® Certified Food Protection Manager Course to be Held

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is sponsoring ServSafe®, the national certification program for food service managers. The course will be held on September 17 at Mahaska County Extension Office located at 212 N. I Street in Oskaloosa. All food service operations are required to have at least one certified staff person. Anyone interested in preparing and serving safe food is welcome to attend.
The cost of the course is $175, which includes 8 hours of class time, a manual, and the national certification exam. There is a discounted rate of $150 available for Iowa Restaurant Association members with verification prior to class. Registration is required by August 27.

The king and queen will be announced on Monday, November 30 @ 6:00 pm in Penn Central Mall. All participants will receive great prizes and will have the opportunity to participate in the "Holiday Joys and Toys" Lighted Christmas Parade on Saturday, Dec. 5 at 7pm.

Join us for the 39th Annual Lighted Christmas Parade. You've seen the Painting with Lights in Oskaloosa, come check out the creativity of the parade entries with all the colors and lights.
The weeklong festivities will include the Young Ambassador Contest, Window Decorating, Home Decorating contests, Gospel Christmas Concert, Merry Little Downtown Christmas and more. We welcome the community to invite family, friends and visitors to make a trip to Oskaloosa.
As you visit the town, you can always get hot cocoa, apple cider or that warm Christmas cup of coffee at the local coffee shop; visit the Alley, decorated for the holiday; visit the quaint little bookstore for a Christmas read; or shop unique shops along the square for that perfect Christmas gift.
