Annual Spaghetti Dinner

Support Oskaloosa Student Council at the Annual Spaghetti Dinner

Oskaloosa Student Council will host its annual Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser on Thursday, January 30, beginning at 5:30 pm in the small gym at Oskaloosa High School.

Dinner will be served until after halftime of the boys basketball game. There is no cost to attend, and free-will donations are welcome. All proceeds support Student Council projects, events, and opportunities, including camps and conferences.

Menu includes:

Sit back and prepare to be amazed as three virtuoso musicians whisk you away on a peaceful, dream-like journey to the moon or beyond - a feast for the eyes and for the ears!

The Right in the Eye! film concert is a multimedia show performed both onstage and on screen, composed of 12 films by Georges Méliès, whose works present a playful world full of wonder, fantasy, and early movie comedy. It is a great way for children and their families to discover the origins of movies and also to explore the world of music, with more than 50 instruments on stage – many unusual and surprising.

ServSafe® Food Safety Certification Class

ServSafe® Food Safety Certification Class

Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach is offering a food safety training for food service managers on February 3, 2026, at the Mahaska County Extension Office located at 212 N. I Street in Oskaloosa. If inclement weather requires cancellation a snow date of February 10 has been scheduled. Registrations close three weeks before the class on January 13, 2026.

“Certification in ServSafe® meets the Iowa Food Code requirements to have a certified food protection manager in all establishments,” said Cathy Drost, class instructor and ISU Extension and Outreach Health & Human Sciences Educator. "We live in a time when food safety hazards and risks are prevalent. Serving safe food is mandatory. This eight-hour program aims to train food service professionals about food safety requirements and best practices to meet them.”

According to Drost, the program is based on the National Restaurant Association’s ServSafe® certification program and the Iowa Food Code. The class is beneficial for foodservice managers from all areas such as schools, restaurants, convenience stores, child care, senior meal sites and health care. Participants will receive a copy of the ServSafe® Manager training manual and will take the ServSafe® certification exam.

Triple Espresso tells the story of three guys whose bid for showbiz fame and fortune ended in 4-minutes of magnificent failure on national television. Hugh Butternut, Buzz Maxwell, and Bobby Bean tell their rags-to-rags story earnestly, with hysterical results.

Butternut is a musician, a vulnerable soul with a lounge lizard smile; Maxwell is an uncertain magician with an attitude; and Bean is an irrepressible, all-over-the-map entertainer with big dreams. The laughter is infectious and the comedy appeals to everyone from first graders to grandparents.

Journey though Grief: 6th Annual Pregnancy & Infant Loss Retreat

This annual Awakening Grace - Journey Through Grief Day Retreat is about creating a safe space for grieving families to connect and heal. This space is specifically designed for anyone who has lost a child during pregnancy or infancy. We would encourage you to join us regardless of how long ago your loss was, whether it has been 2 months, 2 years, 20 years, or somewhere in between.

Although the retreat is geared toward grieving families, we encourage you to bring as many support people with you as you would like. If you haven’t experienced a loss, but have a friend who has, we encourage you to invite them to the event and offer to attend with them. We want to invite Dads, Moms, Grandparents, Siblings (over 12), Aunts, Uncles, and Friends!

This space will allow you the time and space to share openly about your child(ren), provide you with tools and resources to help you continue on your grief journey, and equip you with an amazing community to walk alongside you on this journey. This space is designed as a place where we can take a break from our normal lives and come together to grieve and remember our heavenly babies, while also healing and learning tools to help us in our grief journey.

Join Sally, her brother, and their over-protective pet Fish as they meet the mischief-making Cat in his iconic red-striped hat on a rainy afternoon.

He will teach us all to make our own fun with nothing but a little imagination.

This lively 50-minute production is perfect for children aged 3 and up. Whether you're revisiting a childhood favorite or introducing it to your own Thing One and Thing Two, The Cat in the Hat, Live on Stage is the perfect family outing.

Oskaloosa Main Street's annual Sweet Corn Serenade brings over 4,000 people to downtown Oskaloosa for fresh-cooked sweet corn and live music. 

Includes, craft and vendor fair, food trucks, children's activities, and more. 

12-9PM - Craft & Vendor Fair + Food Vendors

Turn on the Lights! with Oskaloosa Main Street

Join us as we magically Turn on the Lights around the town square at 6:00 p.m. sharp!  

There will be horse-drawn carriage rides, Santa, Cookies, Cider, Hot Chocolate, and popcorn begin at 5pm! 

Young Ambassador Ceremony

The Young Ambassador Contest is back!  One young man and one young lady will once again be chosen as Oskaloosa's young ambassadors. The winner will be determined by the amount of money raised, which will be used for local preschools & daycares along with the Lighted Christmas Parade

The king and queen will be announced on Monday, November 30 @ 6:00 pm in Penn Central Mall. All participants will receive great prizes and will have the opportunity to participate in the "Holiday Joys and Toys" Lighted Christmas Parade on Saturday, Dec. 5 at 7pm.

Join us for the 39th Annual Lighted Christmas Parade. You've seen the Painting with Lights in Oskaloosa, come check out the creativity of the parade entries with all the colors and lights. 

The weeklong festivities will include the Young Ambassador Contest, Window Decorating, Home Decorating contests, Gospel Christmas Concert, Merry Little Downtown Christmas and more. We welcome the community to invite family, friends and visitors to make a trip to Oskaloosa.

As you visit the town, you can always get hot cocoa, apple cider or that warm Christmas cup of coffee at the local coffee shop; visit the Alley, decorated for the holiday; visit the quaint little bookstore for a Christmas read; or shop unique shops along the square for that perfect Christmas gift. Come see the lights, grab your cameras, and come celebrate Christmas in Oskaloosa.
